Lazada Philippines Featured on Thumbs Up
Recently, Lazada Philippines, the biggest online shopping mall in the country, was featured on Thumbs Up – a 30-minute business-magazine style show on Studio 23.
Aired on May 18, 2013, the segment about Lazada highlighted the beginnings, services and accomplishments of the online shop.
An enterprise of German online venture builder Rocket Internet, Lazada was launched in April 2012. It generated a lot of buzz and continues to do so in the Philippine online community.
Lazada Co-founder and Managing Director Inanc Balci stated that “Lazada is the leading online shopping mall in (the) Philippines. It is very similar to a department store. We offer 20,000 products to our customers. You can log-in to the website whenever you want and order our products and buy them easily.”
When asked how different Lazada is in terms of products’ price range, Steffen Wulff Petersen, also a Lazada Co-founder and Managing Director, says “We try to always be competitive towards malls and towards other online shopping sites. Lazada is always and only dealing with original products, new products, and products that come with full manufacturing warranty. ”
Lazada was also awarded as the Best Online Department Store in the 2013 Golden Globe Annual Awards for Business Excellence held last May 4, 2013 at the Manila Hotel Centennial A Grand Ballroom, One Rizal Park, Manila City.

VIP for a Night – Winners of the Lazada PH Mega Gone Digital Event
The Philippines’ online shopping mall, Lazada, recently held a contest for fashionistas who wanted to be a part of Mega Magazine’s Gone Digital 21st Anniversary Party.
Winners
Two winners, one from Facebook and one from Instagram, were picked and got VIP passes to the said anniversary party. For Instagram, the said promo only required joiners to upload their outfit of the day (OOTD), follow and tag @LazadaPH, and use hashtags: #MegaLazada #OOTD #LazadaFashion #LazadaPH. For Facebook, joiners only needed to send OOTD entries to marketing@lazada.com.ph; once entry was posted, joiners were encouraged to like and share away.
Winners were announced Feb. 20, 2013, a day before the grand event. Lucky chosen fashonistas were Ms. Phylicia Marie Pineda (with username @phyaboo) and Ms. Sofia Trinidad (with username @sooofianca).
Event
Mega Magazine’s 21st Anniversary was themed “Mega Gone Digital” because of its embracement of the digital age. In line with this, their digital product Megastyle.ph was launched that evening. Their February 2013 cover stars Ms. Ruffa Gutierrez and Mr. Robin Padilla graced the event. The 3-hour party event was held at Opus Restaurant and Lounge in Resort’s World Manila.
Apart from the Lazada contest winners, Lazada officials also graced the event – Co-founders Mr. Inanc Balci and Ms. Gabriela Conclaves, Business Developer Mr. Lorenzo Holder, Head of Social Media Mrs. Marie Dominique Espino, and Partnerships Officer Ms. Sittie Raiza Dipatuan.
